Our business model

Our model enables us to create and optimise multiple additional revenue streams for each brand, including; digital advertising, eCommerce, paid content, subscriptions, media sales and ticket sales.

  • 70% of revenue now outside of print
  • eCommerce at 68% YoY underpinned by proprietary tech

Core to our business model is the scalable operating platform. Whilst content sits at the heart of the business, it’s our proprietary technology stack and processes that enables scalability.

Our media stack

The technology stack consists of various underlying technologies that together manage our IP assets, facilitate the growth of websites and enable magazines to be published on time. Additionally, it supports the growth of  monetisation model while crucially ensuring audiences get the user experience they want. Find out more about stack below.

Vanilla: our web platform

Through Vanilla we can build a new website for a brand from scratch or migrate content from an existing website onto the Vanilla platform to grow the existing brand’s digital presence. Vanilla has been built to be device agnostic, while ensuring that content will appear local in each market (internationalisation). Vanilla has an automated content tagging functionality which allows us to build rich first party audience segments for better content, advertising and eCommerce product offering.

Hybrid: our digital advertising tech

Hybrid is our smart unified digital advertising platform that has two key principal features. The enablement of the best ad format for our users deployed alongside Vanilla, makes it a best of breed advertising technology solution which identifies the optimum placement of advertising slots online, all whilst maintaining a great experience for the user. Secondly our Ad trading platform makes it easier for ad agency and buyers to trade with us programmatically while also dynamically adjusting pricing based on demand and seasonality.

Hawk: eCommerce tech

Hawk is our proprietary eCommerce technology which we have developed to help customers find the right product for them online. This allows us to seamlessly integrate millions of product prices from thousands of retailers across our various consumer news and reviews websites’ content.

Falcon: lead generation

Falcon is a cutting-edge lead generation software as a service tool that enables us to generate traceable customer leads for companies through our website. This can provide a ‘matchmaking’ service for companies, putting them in touch with customers who are expressly interested in their services.
